jen + bryan [sneak peek]

02.23.09  |  weddings

A few weeks back Jen and Bryan were married at Calamigos Equestrian in Burbank. I know Jen is itching to see a few... (who can blame her?) ;) So, here are a few sneak peeks from their beautiful wedding. We didn't have much light for portraits but I absolutely love what we got. These two are absolutely beautiful together. More to come...

megan + john [seal beach]

02.17.09  |  engagements

A few weeks ago, Megan and John met me at my stomping grounds in Huntington Beach. From there we headed down to Seal Beach's charming Main Street and ended up on the beach for sunset.

This was actually the first time we had met in person since we had chatted and then booked over the phone. And, I was so happy to finally meet them... what a fun, cute and smart couple. Right away I knew we were going to have a fantastic time. They were great and made me laugh on a number of occasions (which makes sense since John is a sitcom writer). What great chemistry!

I'm so excited for their wedding at La Venta Inn in July. Until then, enjoy the pics!

He, he, he...

in memory of lola

02.13.09  |  personal

If you're like me, you were raised with dogs and you know what a special place they hold in your family... they are one of its members. Today I received word that one of my very special clients' family member and furry friend, Lola, passed away. Tears immediately came to my eyes when I received the email because I knew how special and important Lola was to their family. I felt it fitting to pay tribute to Lola with a few images from our session from the fall of 2007 at White Sands in New Mexico.

So, here's to you, Lola, up there in doggy heaven looking down on your loving family. I know they miss you soooo much already but I'm glad that I was able to capture you all together so that their memories of you won't fade with time.

And, to the Carameros family... big hugs and kisses...

This is some text from the email that they sent about what we can learn from our furry friends that I thought we could all take to heart...

Live simply.

Love generously.

Care deeply.

Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

karen + nathan + belly = fun! [pregnancy]

02.13.09  |  portraits

I love my clients and I also love when they refer their friends. That's how I met Karen and Nathan. Their friend Mandi (whose family I recently photographed) referred Karen to me for her lifestyle pregnancy portraits.

We had so much fun. Karen is such a smart and lovely person. We talked for a while about her journey on and before this pregnancy. It was so touching that I actually teared up when we were talking. This pregnancy was such an important milestone for her and her family that she wanted it documented. In addition, the session was a gift for her husband to thank him for all his amazing love and support. I think it's a wonderful gift and I hope that he does, too.

Oh... and I think I have a new boyfriend... Nathan and I played for quite a while after our session. He told me all about wanting to be a storm chaser and he also taught me how to play trains and dinosaurs. I'm sure Ethan will appreciate this in the future! ;)

Thank you for the wonderful session. Enjoy!

jenn + albert [abbot kinney]

02.06.09  |  engagements

So... I love these two! Fun, vivacious, of thoughtful, smart, totally in love with each other. What more could I ask for? Oh yeah... they're adorable, too! And, Jenn loves yoga... I mean really!

I met them at their house in Manhattan Beach and then we headed down to Abbot Kinney in Venice for some pictures. Albert had pre-scouted and arranged some awesome spots for us to shoot in including Equator Books and Diggs furniture store. Equator actually opened up specially for Albert... all of the people in both stores were SOOO nice. We had lots of fun and ended the evening with an awesome dinner.

I'm so excited for Jenn and Albert's wedding in March. They are getting married on Maui... woohoo!!! We're going to have SOOOOOO much fun! I really can't wait... really. I mean, who can wait to go to Maui, right? And, what's even better, I'll get to see Wendy and Daniel who are good friends of Jenn and Albert and whose wedding I shot a few years back. So excited!!! Enjoy and let me know what you think. ;)

This pool table was worth a pretty penny. It was a gift from Rudy Vali to Erol Flynn (or vice versa). Cool.
