05.26.10 | portraits

So... in the last post I featured Gail Gray and her cover story from OC Family magazine on how she balances running a successful business and being a mom. Here is the lifestyle portrait session of her boys (the shoot where the picture in the magazine story came from).
I'm not a fan of "posy" (I know it's not a word but you know what I mean) portrait sessions... that's not to say that I don't provide any direction but I like the sessions and they way my clients look to feel more natural. What are my goals in a lifestyle portrait session?...capturing the kids/family being themselves, being real, doing what they like to do, capturing a little piece of their personality at their current age (they'll be all grown up so quickly, afterall!), and documenting them just plain having fun. I love it!
Please let me know what you think and leave me a comment.

05.25.10 | announcements

I was in a little boutique children's store in Newport yesterday ( Spoiled Beginnings) picking up my new super incredible Baby Jogger City Select tandem stroller... so cool (and yes... I had to wait until the little lady was already 12 weeks old until I had it, but I digress...) when I saw the current OC Family magazine on the shelves. I thought to myself, "Self, isn't that Gail Gray? Wait, that's right... she's getting featured in this month's OC Family with my photos!" I totally forgot... how fun to stumble upon it this way. They ended up using a headshot that I had done as well as an image from her boys' lifestyle portrait session (one of my favorite sessions!).
Anyhoo... Gail is a FABULOUS woman, mom, and entrepreneur, which is why she and her business were featured on the cover of this month's OC Family. She runs A Fresh Start Organizing and is a life saver to all of us who aren't quite so organized. Please be sure to check out the article on being a working mom and running a successful business as well as her spectacular blog and website!
You know... I think I'm going to blog her sons' lifestyle portrait session in my next post... stay tuned... it should be up shortly!

05.12.10 | weddings

venue: Arroyo Trabucco Golf Club
onsite coordinator: Alyson Gabaldon
photography: Natalie Moser Photography
video: Aartistic Video and Photography
makeup: Kelly Zhang
floral design: Green Leaf Designs
lighting and lanterns: 4th Dimension Events
ceremony music - flute and guitarist: LA Jazz Band
dj: VOX DJs
cake: It's All About the Cake
I am so fortunate to have such amazing clients and Jinie and Brad were no exception. In fact, they are incredible... sweet, fun, and totally in love. You might remember them from their pretty engagement session a little while back. Their wedding took place at one of my favorite Orange County venues, Arroyo Trabucco Golf Club under the coordination of the lovely Alyson Gabaldon.
It was a beautiful day filled with pretty details, cultural traditions (a Thai ceremony during the reception), family involvement (KC of VOX DJ's was the emcee and brother of the groom), tears, beautiful toasts, a special song sung by the Jinie to Brad during the receiption, and lots of laughter, too.
I just know that this is going to be a marriage that does more than stand the test of time. Enjoy some of my favorite images from their day!

| I have shot weddings at Arroyo before but this was the first time they had the ceremony center point as the tree and not a gazebo structure. This was SOO much nicer. Beautiful! |

| Loved the flowers and crystals in the tree. |

| Check out the ring pillow... that's right... a football. |

| The one below was so touching. It was taken after Jinie's parents gave one of the most beautiful and eloquent speeches that I've heard at a wedding. Jinie went over to her and bowed to her. It was just beautiful. |

| This one just cracks me up! |

| Yes, they did the Thriller dance at the reception! |

| The Thai ceremony held at the reception was so fun and meaningful. I love cultural traditions incorporated into a couple's day. |
