jen + bryan [viceroy hotel, santa monica]

09.30.08  |  engagements

OK... so here is a FUN engagement session! Jen and Bryan were referred to me by the lovely Alyssa and Rob whose wedding I shot back in 2007. Wow... I can't believe it's been that long. Alyssa's words of advice to Jen and Bryan on their engagement session were something like... have fun, relax, and... if you can... have a drink first! Well, it was about 10:00 AM and Jen and Bryan thought it might be too early for those last words of advice. I, however, thought that if it were me, I'd do it... and, hey, the bar was open... so drinks were imbibed! Hehe...

Back to the happy couple... How cute are they? They were so loving, sweet and funny with each other. It made it such a pleasure to shoot them... having fun and looking spectacular. The location wasn't too shabby either. ;) I do love the Viceroy hotel in Santa Monica... so cool. This session felt a little more editorial than most so that's how I approached the editing... very simple and clean.

I can't wait to shoot your wedding in January at Calamigos Equestrian, Jen and Bryan. I hope you enjoy your photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. Talk soon! Here goes...

crisanta + mark [molaa, long beach]

09.22.08  |  weddings

You might remember Crisanta and Mark from their Walt Disney Concert Hall e-session. These two were married on the "7/7/07" date of 2008... yes, that's right... 8/8/08. And what a wedding it was! ;) This ceremony took place at St. Anthony Catholic Church and the reception was held at the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA). All I can say is BEAUTIFUL... beautiful details and amazingly beautiful couple. I'll stop abusing the word "beautiful" now... or, at least I'll try. They are a really sweet couple and are going to make a wonderful family. I wish you guys all the best... thanks so much for including me in your day.

And, finally... after much anticipation... please enjoy a "few" of my favorites (there were too many to choose from!)... I can't wait to hear what you think!

Loved the candy apple red shoes, etc....

Yowza!!!

Yowza again!

Crisanta on her way to the "first look"... I always LOVE this part...

So cute!!!

Mark couldn't believe just how amazing Crisanta looked...

Neither could I... WOW.

Off to the church... we all walked...

What a lovely church... and not a bad veil either... :)

I just love this one...

It's "peace be with you" twister! Ha!

They had an incredible mariachi band for the cocktail hour. I love live music... it adds so much energy to any event.

Some portraits/intimate moments...

On to the reception... and some incredible details...

Crisanta and Mark made their grand entrance by coming in through the bridge that was their wedding party and a few family members... fun...

Need I say anything?

I love the look on their faces...

A few final night shots...

And, the rings... (note: this was from table 8... remember it was 8/8/08!) How perfect...

allison + james [disneyland hotel]

09.16.08  |  weddings

The lovely Allison and James were recently married at the Disneyland Hotel. It was a great day and a beautiful marriage of two wonderful families. It was truly a pleasure to witness the love that these two had. But, it touched me even further to see the love that Allison's mom and dad had for her on this very special day. An interesting note, Allison's parents held their reception at the Disneyland Hotel, too, adding extra sentiment to the day.

Without further ado, please enjoy... To Allison and James- thanks so much for allowing Julia and I to be a part of your day. We wish you all the best as you begin this journey together!

First a moment with Allison and James prior to the ceremony...

Getting ready...

On the way to the first look...

A cute detail... all the girls had a tinkerbell tattoo on their ankles.

Some portraits before the ceremony...

Heading back to the Grand California Hotel for their formal pics... It's always so fun to see passers by watch a couple on their wedding day. The little girls are especially fun to watch... "look mommy, it's Cinderella!"

Heading back across the street... it's ceremony time...

Some lovely reception details... including an Oklahoma University groom's cake... fun!

The first dance...

This little guy was sooo sweet.

FUN!

And, finally the rings...

Congrats again you two!
